Roy Hart’s vocal technique is based on the research and work of Alfred Wolfsohn, who – traumatised by the First World War – healed himself through singing in the late 1930s. He later passed on his work to his pupil Roy Hart, who continued the research and developed it into a unique art form in his own right. In the 1970s and 1980s, the ‘Roy Hart Theatre’ was at the forefront of contemporary theatre and toured throughout Europe with its extraordinary productions. Today, actors, singers, therapists and ordinary people alike are drawn to this work, seeking to establish a deeper connection with their voice – and thereby with their body and soul.
On 1 November, I will be holding a one-day workshop; the plan is to launch a new group in Roy Hart Centre Voice Work in Kassel, consisting of around 6–7 people, who will meet at regular or irregular intervals.
No previous experience of any kind is necessary, nor is it a hindrance.
