31 October–2 November Munich – 8/9 November Kassel – 15/16 November Herne
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to call myself brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? But who are you not to call yourself that? You are a child of God – keeping yourself small does not serve the world…” (Marianne Williamson/Nelson Mandela)
The workshop series ‘Voice, Poetry, Performance…’ sees itself as a place of experimentation and a playground for adults. You don’t necessarily have to be a singer or actor to discover the joy of your own voice. Curiosity and a desire for self-expression, movement and improvisation are enough. Beyond “right” or “wrong”, “can” or “can’t”, we discover all kinds of sounds, noises and melodies that live within us: whether light or dark, wild or tender, playful or contemplative, all are welcome.
We are not looking for the perfect voice here, but the one that lives within us and demands expression; everything that reveals itself is welcome here.
Poems serve as our basis and source of inspiration – by Rainer Maria Rilke, Rose Ausländer, Pablo Neruda and many others who refer to a world that lies beyond the one we can see. What sounds do they elicit from us, what images do they contain, what forms of expression come to mind?
Previous experience of any kind is neither necessary nor a hindrance.
